Job as systems/computer yst or network administrator?

I got a bachelor's degree in computer science in 2002, but never used the degree, instead teaching in elementary. I would like to get a job as a systems/computer yst or network administrator. Problem is, I don't remember much, and what I did learn was programming in C & C++. Should I get a Cisco/Microsoft certification or a masters degree in IT, not only to refresh myself, but hopefully to get employers to even look at me.
