I was intubated almost 6 months ago and my throat still hurts?

It has been way long enough I'd think. The tube was in for around 5 days. They did have to take it out and replace it twice with different size tubes because I kept vomiting around the tube when they would wake me up each day. I don't know if the damage done is permanent or if I'm just healing very slowly. It's not constant pain, more like it often 'catches' with pain when I talk. I always feel like I have phlegm stuck there, and my voice goes very hoarse. I also cannot speak or yell loudly without my voice just cutting out and it hurting. Sounds like a blessing for my family, but not so much for me- LOL!
