I had chingles when I was younger and I got it 2 times again?

Does the infection stay dormant in the body after the frist interaction to getting it. After I have been d like 8 months ago I got the shingles again on my arm because of all the meds I had to take and me being really depressed and stressed. Then I got it again 4 months ago same spot.. could the infection still be in my body???
