What is the word for "hell" in Irish/Gaelic?

I want to get the word "hell" tattood on me in Gaelic. My favorite quote reads "The Definition of Hell: On the last day, the person you became will meet the person you could have become." Since the quote is too long to tattoo, I'm going to ink only "hell" to represent it. I've seen "ifreann" listed as meaning hell but I want to make sure it means "hell" in the theoretical/psychological sense and not just as a reference to the place.
