How does The Crucible connect with what it means to be an American?

idk about the 1690s, probably the salem witch trials, but with 50s....the US persecuted communists and had a witch hunt for communists in the McCarthy trials. As for 2000-present day, after 9/11 there has been a witch hunt for terrorists as we see on the news lately.
