Help with Finnish vowel tones?

I was wondering, how would you differentiate the vowels in Finnish from their tone, I have a tough time with this, tell apart...a and aa, i and ii, y and yy, o and oo, etc....I can't seem to tell the tones apart when I hear the words. What's a good way to help with that?
